Drop forging is a forging way that press heated round metal bar into the shape we need under the pressure of the mould. It will ensure the accuracy of dimensions and little machining allowance, no structure limit, high production efficiency. Genernal processes of drop forging are: mould developing - raw material cutting - heating material - forging - trimming cutting - heat treatment - shot blasting - machining - surface treatment - package, etc. Materials that can be applied in drop forging process can be stainless steel, alloy steel, carbon steel, copper and other forged materials.
drop forging
Typical characteristics of drop forgings:
  • Under the press of up and down mould, we could forge the steel bar in fast time, so the production capacity is very high.
  • With the help of accurate mould after machining, we could achieve higher accuracy dimensions, which will avoid further machining and save lots of cost.
  • Comparing with casting, the mechanical propertity of drop forging will be better, we will no need to worry about the defects produced
When designing drawing of a drop forged part, engineer will consider the limitations of each dimension and other characteristics, that is because no one can produce right dimension without any deviations. So from the drawing, we can see the tolerances of some main dimensions and unspecified tolerance for other dimensions. Normally, the unspecified tolerance can be controlled by drop forging. But for those main dimensions with specific tolerances, we may have to meet by precision machining, some may even require cnc machining, whose cost is quite high. So to save cost, it is necessary to offer the largest tolerances to aviod nc lathe machining or cnc machining. Finishing parts by drop forging only is the best status.
With drop forging process, we could customize all kinds of metal components in different shapes. These parts are all applied in different industries, like agricultural industry, mining & tunelling industry, transportation equipments, oilfield industry, construction machinery, etc. In-house CAD/CAM and tool making capabilities enable us to manufacture specials and standard head forms on short lead times.

Agricultural machinery
Current mechanized production has replaced the original artificial production. Agricultural machinery parts occupy about 25% of drop forging production. Most of our drop forged parts in agricultural machinery are supplied to the distributors/wholesalers. Of course, we also supply parts for end agricultural machinery manufacturers or fammers, but no more than distributors. All our drop forging agricultural wear parts are all with high wear resistance. Besides this, we could also offer value-added brazing technoloy with tungsten carbide attached to add the strength. Commonly agricultural machinery parts in drop forging process are kinfe guards, tub grinder tips, flial hammer, chisel plow points, etc.
As all our products are exported to overseas countries, so we mainly contact with our customer by internet. Normally, our customers will find us by google or other search engine and then email us their demands. To communicate with our customers better and make us more normalized, we set a strict PO procedure for reference:

*Quoting: We could only quote components from our customers' sample or drawing. So once receive the drawing,we will first check if the information is completed, like material specification, weight, surface treatment, machining, etc. Only make all these information clear, can we offer a correct and reasonable price for our customers.
Drop forging is a processing way that using high strength die, metal blank will be plastic deformed on forging press, then we will obtain the required shape, size and internal quality. In deformation process, due to the limitation of the metal flow by the fuction of chamber model, thus we will see the drop forged parts whose shape accords with the mould chamber.

Below are the advantages of drop forging:

1)The production efficiency is higher. In the chamber cavity of mould, the deformation of the metal is proceeding, so we can quickly obtain the required shape.

2)Complex shaped metal parts can be forged with this process, and the distribution of metal flow line is more reasonable. Besides, drop forging process can improve the serving life of parts.

3)The size of drop forgings is accurate, we can also achieve better surface quality, and smaller machining allowance.

4)This process will also save metal material and reduce machining work. Under the condition of enough batch, it will reduce the cost of spare parts.

5)The production operation is easy, so the work force is low.
Before our customer place us orders, we have to quote the product first, then they will advise if our price is acceptable. If yes, order will be placed soon. Today, we would like to do cost analysis for drop forgings. Normally the cost is made up of two sides. One is mould cost, the other is unit cost. As the material of drop forging mould is die steel, so the mould cost is quite high, normally at range of 2,000-3,000usd.

Unit cost for drop forging include: material cost + forging cost + heat treatment cost + machining cost + surface finish cost + package & shipping cost.
Material cost: Material cost is decided by the material specification, it is calculated according to current material price. Eg: For SS304, the price for each ton is about 6,000usd.
1.What is Drop Forging?
Drop forging is the forming process by pressing steel bars after heating to the shapes we need between two engraved dies with a drop forging press.

2.What Materials Can Our Company Forge?
Alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper. Commonly used material specifications are: AISI 1020, AISI 1045, AISI 1030, 20CrMnTi, 20Cr, 40Cr, Q235, Q345, 20CrMo, 30CrMo, 35CrMo, 42CrMo, etc.

3.How Large of Drop Forgings Can We Forge? And What is Annual Output?
We can forge metal parts weights from 0.2kg-50kg. Our annual output is about 10,000t.
